Marylanders struggling with crime, taxes, and out-of-control costs woke up this week to headlines showing their governor, Wes Moore, soaking up the Italian sun with Hollywood elites.

According to reports, Moore and his wife Dawn were spotted shirtless on George Clooney’s yacht and relaxing at the actor’s $100 million Lake Como estate. While Moore lived large on the Mediterranean, Baltimore recorded more than 2,500 crimes in just 17 days — including murders, rapes, and assaults. At the same time, Maryland families continue to feel the squeeze from the largest tax and fee hike in state history.
Making matters worse, Moore has not had a public schedule since August 29. Instead of being in Annapolis addressing the state’s skyrocketing crime and economic challenges, he’s been cozying up to Clooney as talk grows about his presidential ambitions.
This is not leadership. It’s a luxury vacation — paid for by the political clout of a governor who has already shown he’s more interested in his national image than the people he was elected to serve.
Moore campaigned as a man of the people, but his actions tell a different story. While ordinary Marylanders face rising bills, unsafe streets, and disappearing opportunity, Wes Moore is rubbing elbows with the Hollywood elite in Italy.
It’s clear where his priorities are: he doesn’t care about you, just his next job promotion.
